For obvious reasons, many of us simply choose not to think about the bad things- things like cancer- that we could come across. That said, when something bad does happen, it's always nice to see people come together to combat it. According to the Glens Falls Post Star, such was the case when Desma Degraw, a second-degree black belt at Murray’s Family Martial Arts Center, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Of course, when the news came down, everyone had a variety of options. But the school decided to put on an event this past Sunday called "Kicks for Kindness" in order to raise money for their sick friend by way of breaking boards. Reportedly trying to keep a positive mindset, Degraw noted that the skills learned in Tae Kwon Do have helped her to stay the course. "It keeps you focused," she said. "You don't spend a lot of time worrying about the what-ifs."

Degraw plans to have a double masectomy this week. Here's to her health and hoping that the skills her teacher Bob Murray have instilled continue to help her through.

Pitino has been one of the most successful coaches in Division I during his career. His tenure in the NBA... not so much. He won one Atlantic Division title during his two-year stint with the New York Knicks in the late '80s, before jumping to Kentucky. But his stint with the Celtics between 1997 and 2001 was legendarily awful. The C's never finished better than fifth in the Atlantic, posted a 102-146 overall record, and inspired the legendary "Larry Bird is not walking through that door" tirade.

Adam Melzer NJ: Whenever I start researching for a new article or workout, I'm always surprised by the sheer amount of information out there. I often spend more time trying to determine if what I'm reading is accurate than I do on the topic I'm writing about.

Another popular source of information for many of us is friends and family. I can't count how many times I've heard someone say, "My co-worker told me I should never eat after 5:00 or I'll gain weight," or, "A friend of mine said I shouldn't use the stairclimber because it makes your legs big." Sometimes the information is good and sometimes it's not.
